Graduated from the Faculty of Engineering of the UNAM. In 1993 he graduated as an Electrical Mechanical Engineer in the Communications and Electronics module. He obtained the Diploma in Computer LAN Networks (DEC-FI, 1995) and the Diploma in Multimedia (DGSCA, 2000). Master in Pedagogy from the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters of UNAM (2003). PhD. in Pedagogy from the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters of the UNAM (February 2014), in ​​technology for education.

Since 2000 he has worked in educational research projects, mainly in the “Training of teachers in the field of computer technology” and in the design, development, and evaluation of teaching material to support face-to-face and distance education. Additionally, he has developed didactic proposals for the use and application of Web resources in face-to-face and distance education systems. His lines of work include: Digital competences for teaching; Design, development and evaluation of content and computer platforms to support education, among others.

He has been head of the Computing Unit of CCADET-UNAM (1994-2000 and 2007-2010). He was coordinator of the academic group Telematics for Education at ICAT-UNAM (2007-2010 and 2014-2020). As of 2021, he joined the academic group Interactive Spaces and Systems for Education at ICAT-UNAM.
