Federico was born in Mexico City in 1982.  He graduated as a mechanical engineer from the Faculty of Engineering of UNAM. Federico obtained his Master’s Degree in the Materials Science and Engineering Program, also at UNAM. Then, he pursued his Ph.D. in the Physics of Fluids Group of the University of Twente in the Netherlands under the supervision of Prof. Jacco Snoeijer. There, he specialized in capillary phenomena and experimental techniques. Then, Federico joined the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) as a postdoctoral fellow. Under the supervision of Prof. Sigurdur T. Thoroddsen, he studied flash-boiling as an ultra-high-speed flow. Now, he is an Assistant Professor in the Acoustics and Vibrations Group of the Institute for Applied Sciences and Technology (ICAT) of  UNAM. He has published articles on capillary phenomena, experimental techniques, and boiling of ultra-high-speed jets. Currently, he is interested in fluid-flow induced by intense acoustic fields.
