Augusto García-Valenzuela

Augusto García-Valenzuela received the B.Sc. in Physics from Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (Mexico City) in 1990. The M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and Applied Physics from Case Western Reserve University (Cleveland, Ohio, U.S.A) in 1992 and 1996, respectively. Since 1996 he has been at the Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology from Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM). He has published more than 110 refereed journal publications and more than 70 technical papers from scientific conferences. In 2004 he was visiting researcher at the Center for Polymer Research from COMEX-group. He was awarded the Distinción Universidad Nacional para Jóvenes Académicos in 2006 in Technology Innovation. In 2011 he spent a sabbatical year at the department of Physics of the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana. He was received the “Fernando de Alba” Medal in Experimental Physics from the Institute of Physics (UNAM) in 2015. He was Topical Editor for the Journal Applied Optics from the Optical Society of America from 2010 to 2016. Currently he is “Investigador Titular C” (Full professor) at UNAM and Investigador Nacional 3 by the National Council for Science and Technology (CONACyT). His main interests are in Optical Electromagnetics and Sensor Physics.
